As a therapy intern, I have a strong foundation in core counseling skills — active listening, empathy, and validation. One thing I feel confident about is my ability to ask difficult questions while still holding a safe space, so the client feels secure enough to sit with discomfort rather than avoid it. I am also learning to control the sessions to explore multiple angles without making it feel like we are going in spirals, I’m also aware that my experience in trauma focused therapy and other therapies is still limited, I’m working on it.
