As a counseling intern, I have performed intake interviews to formulate in-depth case conceptualizations, deducing potentials for disorders from some clients, such as BPD and panic disorder. In my sessions, I strive to instill deep empathic rapport through accurate reflection and key open-ended questions that promote client insight and led to questioning and perspective shifts. Depending on client needs, I apply lenses of CBT and SFBT (for which I am currently completing a certification from The Solution Focused Universe) from an integrative theoretical basis. With over 200 hours of clinical experience under supervision at a bilingual therapy center, and a typical caseload of 8-10 clients, I have encountered individuals from a variety of cultures (Western European, Balkan, North African, Southeast Asian, South Asian), which has allowed me to finetune my approach to practice from a cultural and ethical perspective (for example, avoiding telling a client from a collectivist culture to simply ignore relationships to others and others' opinions when defining her self-worth).
