Working directly with patients helped me understand how psychological theories translate into real-life clinical settings. I learned how to build rapport, practice active listening, and maintain professional boundaries. Attending OPDs exposed me to diverse psychological concerns across age groups. I observed intake procedures, initial assessments, and the importance of detailed history-taking in forming accurate case conceptualizations. Studying case files strengthened my diagnostic reasoning and critical thinking skills. I learned how to identify symptom patterns, contributing factors, and underlying psychosocial dynamics. The internship reinforced the importance of ethical practice, informed consent, confidentiality, and multidisciplinary collaboration within a hospital setting. Most importantly, I learned emotional sensitivity, patience, and the ability to remain grounded while working with clients experiencing distress.
